Cardinals get a Friday night off before entering district tourney

The Webb City Cardinals have a bye week, which may seem strange, but it’s the same situation as last year – Webb City’s first in Class 5.
Just like last year, Carthage is seeded first in District 6, and Webb City is seeded second. Cardinal fans hope for a similar outcome as last year, when Webb City defeated Carthage 42-21 in the final.
The Cardinals’ next game will be Friday, Nov. 5, at Cardinal Stadium against either Republic (3rd seed) or Parkview (6th seed). Carthage’s Tigers are resting up to play either Neosho (4th) or Willard (5th).
Webb City (6-3) ended the regular season last week with a 55-0 win at Willard. Seven of the Cardinals’ eight touchdowns were scored in the first half.
Cade Wilson led eight Webb City rushers with 79 yards on 6 carries.
Cohl Vaden completed 9 of 11 passes for 2 touchdowns and 118 yards. Dante Washington caught three of the passes for 51 yards.
