Polar Bear Express can rest for another year after successful run

More than 1,500 ticket holders enjoyed this year’s three-weekend run of the Polar Bear Express on Streetcar No. 60.

It was especially nice after the historic streetcar was kept in its barn most of last year because of the pandemic.

The annual event is jointly operated by the Webb City Parks and Recreation Department and the Southwest Missouri Electric Railway Association. It was Erin Turner’s first year to be the ride host.

Pajamas were appropriate.

It took one young rider (bottom right) a little while before she warmed up to being on the Polar Bear Express.

Streetcar No. 60 goes past displays while a conductor looks out the door.

The ride stops for several minutes to watch a choreographed light display in King Jack Park.
