We’re down to one more week of the regular season, as the Webb City boys basketball team is fighting for position in a better position in the district tournament and conference standings.
The 16-7 Cardinals have only three games left – against Central Ozark Conference foes Republic, Carthage and Branson. They travel to Republic Friday, will be at home Tuesday against Carthage and will be at Branson Thursday.
The Cardinals improved their COC record to 4-2 Tuesday by getting a 74-71 win at Neosho, a potential Class 5 District 6 opponent.
The Wildcats had a 45-43 lead at the half. But the Cardinals scored 5 more than the Wildcats in the third quarter and held on in the fourth quarter.
Trey Roets led the Cardinals with 26 points and 5 rebounds. Max Higginbotham was 5 of 7 in his 3-point attempts while scoring 16. Dante Washington also scored 16. Kaden Turner and Dupree Jackson both had 7 rebounds.
In the Cardinals’ homecoming game Friday, Nixa came out on top of the defensive struggle 50-40. The teams were tied 27-27 at the end of the third quarter.
Turner led the Cardinals with 11 points. Washington had 10 points and 3 assists. And Roets grabbed 7 rebounds.
The Webb City girls (9-12) will be coming off a 48-40 win over Neosho when they travel to Republic Thursday, Feb. 17.
Sami Mancini led the Cardinals with 15 points and 12 rebounds at Neosho on Monday.
On Friday, Webb City will play at East Newton.
The Webb City girls and boys will both be playing Carthage Tuesday in Cardinal Dome.
It will be a girls and boys night next Thursday at Branson to close the regular season.
