A community grand opening for the Webb City American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Building will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, July 24. Paving the parking lot, one of the last things to be done before the grand opening, was done Wednesday.
The new Zips Car Wash, at 1309 S. Madison St., is now open while the project is being finished. Signs were being hung Wednesday. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 21.

9 a.m. Tuesday at Carthage Courthouse
Charlie Davis, Jasper County Clerk, announces that he and his staff will be testing voting equipment in front of the public at 9 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, at the Jasper County Courthouse, Room 103, in Carthage.
“It is essential that the equipment, programming and process for our elections work without failure,” says Davis. The public and media are welcome to attend.

9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Carthage Memorial Hall
The Barton-Jasper County Collectors Association will hold its 37th annual Summer Coin, Stamp, Postcard, Sports Memorabilia and Collectibles Show Saturday, July 16, at Carthage Memorial Hall.
Dealers from Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma will be displaying their collections on 48 tables from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bridge replacement delayed
The Missouri Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that closure of Range Line Road won’t be closed July 18 after all.
The bridge over the railroad tracks still needs to be demolished and replaced, the start of construction has just been delayed. A new start date will be announced.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
