Site work has begun for a new Southwest Missouri Bank branch at Oronogo’s busiest intersection.
The property, on the southwest corner of Route D and Highway 96, was cleared when construction of the branch was first announced two years ago.
It’s across the street from the Truman School complex, with the address 855 N. Highway D.
According to the plans, the 7,538-square-foot structure will face the intersection.
It will include 12×24-foot vault, three offices, a conference room, teller station and basement.
Drive-thru bays at the rear of the building will include an ATM.
Having a brick-and-mortar bank in town will be a milestone for Oronogo. The last bank in recent years was in a mobile home on the northwest corner of the same intersection.
Another first will be a community building, which the plan shows will be built by SMB at a later date to the south of the branch building.
