The new disc golf course in King Jack Park is ready for play.
There’s a new attraction in King Jack Park – a disc golf course.
Parks department staff finished assembling and installing the 18 holes, plus a practice one, this week.
The practice hole and first-hole tee are at the Brewster Lane entrance to the park south of the softball complex. The course mostly winds west and north of the softball complex.
Bryan Waggoner, director of parks and recreation, has worked with members of the Joplin Disc Golf Club to design the course. The club has volunteered to place signs to guide players around the course.
Purchasing the disc golf holes has been in the Park Department budget for a couple of years.
There’s also more paved walking surface in the park since a former road on the east side of the lake has been landscaped and connected to the rest of the park trail system.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
