You’re likely to notice a large number of trucks hauling asphalt to Webb City this week as the city tries to get is as much street paving as the budget will allow.
The public works staff has for weeks been preparing for Blevins Asphalt to start laying asphalt.
On Wednesday, 13th and 14th streets were getting a new layer. Today, Fountain Road will be paved from Ellis Street to Prairie Flower Road.
The City Council has budgeted $600,000 for street repair, plus it’s proposed that the city use a portion of the federal ARPA funds it received to catch up further.
Here’s the initial street paving list:
Fountain Road – between Ellis Street and Prairie Flower Road.
East Street – from the roundabout north to the railroad tracks.
13th Street – between Madison and Oronogo streets.
14th Street – between Madison and Oronogo streets.
15th Street – between Madison and Oronogo streets.
16th Street – between Madison and Oronogo streets.
Since then, the council has agreed to pave the paving lot south of the pavilion in King Jack Park, with the Webb City Farmers Market a portion of the cost.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
