Karsyn Cahoon pitches for the Cardinals Friday during the jamboree here.

Cardinals softball season starts Saturday, first home game Monday

After an inning-starting double, Abby Sargent somehow keeps from getting picked off to be greeted by coach Shauna Friend at third base.

Webb City softball was the host of a jamboree for the first time on Friday. The Cardinals played four innings each against Monett and Seneca.

Afternoon temperatures close to or above 100° this week forced practices indoors. But a break in the heat wave is hoped for by Saturday when the Cardinals play at Quapaw, Okla. They’ll play Quapaw at 11:30 a.m. and then McDonald County at 1 p.m.

The first home game will be Monday against Nevada. Monett will be here Thursday, Aug. 31.
