Webb City JROTC cadets get to continue to wearing a gold star after Cardinal Battalion received a near perfect score on its U.S. Army inspection Tuesday.
The gold star means the cadets’ program has been awarded as an Honor Unit with Distinction. They’ll get to wear it until the next evaluation, which is typically scheduled every three years.
The evaluation, lasting from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, included uniform inspections, individual questioning on JROTC curriculum, battalion formation, drill performance, color guard performance, portfolio reviews, and two detailed briefings presented by the senior JROTC staff and command teams.
When it was over, Lt. Col. (retired) Dustin Elder, senior Army instructor, announced to the school that, “Your Webb City JROTC has received a score of 98 out of a possible 100 on their evaluation!
“We are extremely proud of the work and efforts that the cadets have put in on preparing for this evaluation during this entire semester. They really did a spectacular job and represented the school very well.
The Webb City Sentinel isn’t a newspaper – but it used to be, serving Webb City, Missouri, in print from 1879-2020. This “newspaper” seeks to carry on that tradition as a nonprofit corporation.
