Brady Bridges

Sept. 28, 1989 – April 6, 2024

Brady Grant Bridges, of Carthage, passed away on April 6, 2024.

Brady was born on Sept. 28, 1989, in Joplin to Mark and Carlene (Knight) Bridges.

Brady graduated from Carthage High School in 2008. He attended Missouri Southern State University and graduated in 2012 with a degree in business education. He earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State University in 2020. Brady taught school in the Neosho, Carthage, and Webb City school districts.

Brady was united in marriage to the love of his life, Beth Bridges, on May 23, 2009. She survives. To their union, two children were born, Hattie and Grant Bridges.

Brady was a devoted husband and a loving father. He was the funniest person in any room he entered. Brady made everyone he met smile with his quick wit and charm. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs, woodworking, taking care of his family, and chicken wings. Brady took considerable care of others, and he was always willing to help his friends and family.

Brady is survived by his wife, Beth, and his children, Hattie and Grant Bridges; his parents, Mark and Carlene Bridges; his maternal grandparents, William and Donna Knight; three brothers Colby (Brittany) Bridges, Adam (Shelly) Bridges, and Drew (Morgan) Bridges; his in-laws, Larry and Becky Scholes; and brothers-in-law, Brad (Kelly) Scholes and Hunter Scholes; a host of nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends and former students.

Brady was a committed Christian and an active member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Carthage.

Visitation was held Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Ulmer Funeral Home. The memorial service was held Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Crossroads Baptist Church. Contributions may be made to the Brady Bridges College Fund (for Hattie and Grant) in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Marjory Johnson

July 20, 1934 – April 8, 2024

Marjory Frances Senter Johnson, age 89, of Webb City, went before us to Heaven on Monday, April 8, 2024, at The Communities of Wildwood with family by her side.

Marjory was born July 20, 1934, in Kansas Cityto the late Roy Francis Senter and Cecil Mary (Douthitt) Senter. Her family moved to Joplin when she was 13 to open up a restaurant on Main Street, The American Cafe.

Marjory graduated valedictorian from Joplin High School in 1952. Growing up she worked in her family’s restaurant and then took a job at Thomas Fruit Company as a bookkeeper after attending Joplin Junior College. She met George Lee Johnson, who also worked at Thomas Fruit Company, on September 13, 1954. Marjory and George were married on June 12, 1955. She was a full-time homemaker and bookkeeper for their rental properties and businesses.

Marjory was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Molly Leigh Anderson.

Survivors include George, her husband of 68 years; their three children, Charlene Anderson, Springfield, Darlene Johnson, Joplin, and Paul and Janet (Shumaker) Johnson, Webb City; grandchildren, Barry Anderson, Katie (Johnson) Virden and husband Quen, Andrew Johnson and wife Rachel, and Amy Johnson, all of Joplin; four great-grandchildren, Milo Virden, Riyo Virden, Sadie Johnson, and Lucille Johnson, all of Joplin.

Marjory loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling, camping, and traveling in their motorhome. Marjory was a member of First Baptist Church of Joplin, where she made many lifelong friends.

Services were held Friday, April 12, 2024, at Parker Mortuary. Pastors Ken Hawkins and Tim Sumners officiated. Entombment was in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Foxberry Terrace Senior Living, The Communities of Wildwood, and Three Rivers Hospice for all of their support and care.
