Marjory Frances Senter Johnson, age 89, of Webb City, went before us to Heaven on Monday, April 8, 2024, at The Communities of Wildwood with family by her side.

Marjory was born July 20, 1934, in Kansas Cityto the late Roy Francis Senter and Cecil Mary (Douthitt) Senter. Her family moved to Joplin when she was 13 to open up a restaurant on Main Street, The American Cafe.

Marjory graduated valedictorian from Joplin High School in 1952. Growing up she worked in her family’s restaurant and then took a job at Thomas Fruit Company as a bookkeeper after attending Joplin Junior College. She met George Lee Johnson, who also worked at Thomas Fruit Company, on September 13, 1954. Marjory and George were married on June 12, 1955. She was a full-time homemaker and bookkeeper for their rental properties and businesses.

Marjory was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Molly Leigh Anderson.

Survivors include George, her husband of 68 years; their three children, Charlene Anderson, Springfield, Darlene Johnson, Joplin, and Paul and Janet (Shumaker) Johnson, Webb City; grandchildren, Barry Anderson, Katie (Johnson) Virden and husband Quen, Andrew Johnson and wife Rachel, and Amy Johnson, all of Joplin; four great-grandchildren, Milo Virden, Riyo Virden, Sadie Johnson, and Lucille Johnson, all of Joplin.

Marjory loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling, camping, and traveling in their motorhome. Marjory was a member of First Baptist Church of Joplin, where she made many lifelong friends.

Services were held Friday, April 12, 2024, at Parker Mortuary. Pastors Ken Hawkins and Tim Sumners officiated. Entombment was in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Foxberry Terrace Senior Living, The Communities of Wildwood, and Three Rivers Hospice for all of their support and care.
