Queen Ester Mining Company Constructing Mill Near The Kirkwood

With the construction of a 250-ton, electrically driven mill, another big plant will be placed in operation in the south Carterville district, where so many new concentrators have recently been erected.

The latest mill has been started by the Webb City & Carterville Foundry Co., and is being built for the Queen Ester Mining Co., in which Aikens, Cosden, Curtiss and Litchfield are interested. The operators are from Bradford, Pa., Independence, Kan., and Tulsa, Okla.

The lease is on land belonging to the American Zinc, Lead and Smelting Co., and the Hatcher Mining Co., and was worked many years ago by the old Double Quick Mining Co.

Work will be conducted from the old shaft, development having shown an extensive formation of sheet ore. The mill is situated east from the new Kirkwood mill which is now in steady operation.
