Veterans serve Thanksgiving meal to hundreds

The Webb City American Legion and VFW organizations served their annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner Sunday – for free as always.

Hundreds took them up on their invitation to enjoy a tradtional Thanksgiving meal.

The event is made possible in part by proceeds from bingo. In addition, the Gaskill Family was recognized for its donations.

Model Railroad Show and Swap Meet

The Tristate Model Railroaders will hold a Model Railroad Show and Swap Meet Saturday at the Joplin History and Mineral Museum.

There will be operating layouts and more than 70 tables of model train items for sale or trade.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults. Children 12 and under will be admitted free. All proceeds will benefit the museum, which is in Schifferdecker Park.

Alpha Delta Kappa

Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa met at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Julian’s Restaurant in Webb City. After dinner, dessert was served by hostesses Shelly Kneeland, Vera Ellison and Paula Stewart.

Annette Elam, president, led the business meeting.

Shelly Kneeland, representing the program committee presented a report on October’s ADK Month’s volunteer and monetary services for that month. There was a total of 21 volunteer services.

The next meeting will be held at the home of Carolyn Clark on Dec. 17.
