Webb City girls varsity won third place in the McDonald County Classic Wednesday with a 46-41 victory over the host team.
The Cardinals (2-2) were behind 35-32 after three quarters but finished strong, outscoring the Mustangs 14-6 in the fourth quarter. Addie Burns, Abby Sargent and Whitlee Keith all scored 10 points.
Webb City opened the tournament Monday with a 57-46 win over Bentonville West but lost Tuesday to VanBuren 54-30.
Webb City girls and boys will both be home Tuesday for a “double header” with Rogers Heritage.
The boys varsity team will be playing its first game of the season as it enters the Carthage tournament this weekend.
The Cardinals will face Ft. Smith Southside in the opening round at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Games will continue Friday and Saturday, according to wins and losses.
On Monday, the Webb City JV tournament will begin. It will continue Wednesday and Thursday.
The Rogers Heritage “double header” Tuesday will be the first home game for the boys.
