There’s a new state champion and some new record holders for the Webb City Lady Cardinals track and field team following the state meet Friday and Saturday at Jefferson City.

Senior Chase Stilley won the Class 5 state title in the high jump on Saturday, with a registered height of 5’7.7.” That’s also a new school record.

Brooke Hedger’s times in two running events broke school records. In the 1600, she placed fourth with a 4:59.42 finish. She placed third, with a 2:14.13 mark in the 800.

Olivia Klotz, Araceli Perez, Emma McKinzie and Brooke Hedger set a new school record in the 4×800 relay as they finished eighth with a time of 9:33.21. Finishing in the top eight comes with all-state honors.

The girls 4×400 finished in 15th place.

“Our girls team was led by Chase Stilley and Brooke Hedger all year,” said coach Dustin Miller. “This group is young and deep in several events. I’m excited to see where we can be next year, after a year of hard work.”

The Cardinals boys 4×800 relay team ran the event faster than any other time at state.
