Webb City pulled ahead 3-1 when Chasney Brown hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning here Tuesday, but Willard answered with one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to win 4-3.
Addie Burns got things started in the fourth with one of her two hits. Brown also got two hits off of Willard’s CeLaney Dixon, while Liz Rhuems got the team’s only other hit.
Avrie Allen pitched four and two-thirds innings for the Cardinals. Addie Burns started on the mound, and Avery Burns came in for the seventh inning.
The Cardinals are 5-2 since Thursday at Carthage when they defeated the Tigers 12-10 in ten innings.


They were trailing 3-0 before scoring five runs in both the sixth and seventh innings. Carthage tied it at 10 in the bottom of the seventh.
Jayden Houston reached first on a walk to start the Cardinals’ 10th inning. She advanced to second on Addie Burns’ successful bunt. Houston advanced to third on an error and scored on Alex Maturino’s ground-out. Burns scored the insurance run on Brecklynn Sargent’s single.
Addie Burns and Alivia Nieburg pitched for the Cardinals in regulation. Avrie Allen gave up one hit during her two innings of relief.
In the tournament Saturday at Warrensburg, the 14-8 Cardinals defeated Holden, 10-3; Warrensburg, 14-1, and McDonald County, 4-3. They lost to Centralia, 10-3.
The Cardinals are at Parkview today (Thursday) and will be in the Springfield tournament Friday and Saturday. They will be home again Monday against Monett.
The rained-out home game against Republic has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10.

Absent an official statement from school administration, it appears longtime assistant coach Kathy Harris will lead the team for the rest of the season as interim head coach.
