Amera Wild
It’s always exciting to see eagles at Webb City’s Cardinal Valley Habitat Restoration Area. Whether they’re soaring over the ponds or perched in a tall tree, their presence feels like a reward for the hard work that’s gone into restoring this land. Hard to believe this area was once part of old lead mining property. Now it’s full of life again with fish, ducks and other wildlife calling it home.

We often see a pair of eagles here, and at certain times of year a juvenile or two join them. Eagles mate for life and often return to the same nesting area, so it feels like seeing old friends come back. It’s a reminder that the care we give this place truly matters.

Lost fishing line and old tackle can harm birds and other wildlife, especially when lead sinkers are involved. Even a small piece of lead can poison an eagle or duck that picks it up while feeding.
Friends of Cardinal Valley helps manage the fishing line recycling bins and works with Webb City’s property manager to keep the area healthy and safe.
A big thank you to the anglers who use our recycling bins and switch to lead-free gear made from steel, tin or tungsten. Those simple choices help keep Cardinal Valley healthy for both wildlife and the people who love it.
