The annual Wreaths Across America event honoring veterans buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery is just four weeks away, and the goal of purchasing 1,200 wreaths hasn’t been met yet.
Susie Crutcher, organizer for the local Wreaths Across America, is sending out an alert that the deadline to purchase wreaths is just two weeks away – on the Friday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 28.
She reports that 740 wreaths have been purchased so far, leaving 460 left to reach the goal.
The best way to order is online at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/MO0173. By using that link, there is a $5 discount for every two wreaths sponsored.
Crutcher urges everyone to make plans to attend the ceremony at Mt. Hope’s Veterans Wall at 11 a.m. Dec. 13. Those participating include the American Legion, Webb City High School JROTC, Scout Troop 25, and Mayor Lynn Ragsdale.
Wreaths will be set aside for those who wish to place a wreath for their loved one.
Following the ceremony, the organizations and other volunteers will place the wreaths at the veterans graves while saying each name aloud.
