The Cardinal girls have challenge Thursday on their home court to give the 11-1 Nevada Tigers their second loss.
Since Christmas, the 8-4 Cardinals took third place in the Holiday Hoops tournament at Rolla by defeating the Waynesville 71-50 on Dec. 28. They had defeated Fox 78-29 in the opening round and fallen to the host team 65-61 in the semifinals.
The Cardinals’ first game of 2026 was a 48-40 loss at Nixa on Jan. 5.
They bounced back at home on June 8 by defeating Waynesville again 57-47.
According to statistician Tim Workman, the team’s scoring average (62 prior to the Waynesville game) is one of the best among Class 5 schools. And the Cardinals are forcing the opposition into more than 24 turnovers per game.
After Nevada, the Cardinals will be at Carl Junction on Tuesday.
