Oronogo is dealing with an unexpected situation that’s arisen where a ditch is being lined with concrete as part of an overall stormwater project.
Mayor Charles Wilkins informed the Oronogo Board of Aldermen Monday that electric poles will have to be moved, rather than have concrete poured around them. Conduit will also have to be installed below the concrete to protect underground electric lines to the nearby homes in the Webbwood subdivision.
Liberty Utilities is agreeing to move the poles and install the conduit in a timely manner in order to not delay the project. And it agrees to cover $84,500 of the total relocation cost of $182,000.
The board approved an agreement to pay Liberty $97,431 for design and engineering services.
However, the city’s total outlay will only be $67,391 because the stormwater contractor, Sprouls Construction, has agreed to charge $29,500 less because the pole relocation will reduce its amount of work.
Also, the board approved a low-bid contract with Neal’s Construction, of Stockton, in the amount of $259,255 to replace the sewer lift station near Route MM in the northwest part of the city.
