Sandra “Sonnie” Kay Beerly, age 84, of Joplin, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at her home surrounded by family.
Sonnie was born on Aug. 24, 1941. in Webb City, to the union of Earl J. and Alberta V. (Allen) Greninger.
He life was characterized by her unwavering dedication to her family. She was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, John Beerly Sr., with whom she shared an inseparable bond. Together, they created a lifetime of memories filled with laughter, dance, and song. She had a particular fondness for collecting iris and herringbone glassware, pieces that shone as brightly as her spirit. Those who knew Sonnie would describe her as loving, faith-filled, and thoughtful. She approached life with a kind heart and open arms, always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand.
In addition to her parents, Sonnie was preceded in death by numerous siblings.
Sonnie is survived by her two sons, John Beerly Jr. (Brenda) and Donald Beerly Sr. (Regina); 10 grandchildren, Cassy Beerly, Tiffany Beerly, Donny Beerly Jr. (Kabo), Dustin Beerly, Scotty Beerly (Shannon), Amanda Rogers (Phil), Justin Smith, Whisper Turner, Tebrie Cahill and Maeghan Cavener; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Valerie Southard.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Three Points Church, 17811 Old 66 Blvd. Carthage, MO 64836. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
May 3, 1958 – March 16, 2026
Patricia Ann Dunker, age 93, of Webb City, passed away on March 16, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Joplin.
Patricia was born on July 3, 1932, in Quincy, Ill., to the union of Charles and Viola (Bauer) Claus. She was one of 10 children. She was raised in North East Missouri and Quincy.
Patricia married Donald Dunker on May 3, 1958. They lived in Quincy and later moved to Joplin and Webb City. She is the mother of five children, the grandmother of 14 grandchildren, and the great-grandmother of 19. She is survived by her husband and sister, Marjorie, of Quincy.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Mt. Hope Cemetery Open Air Pavilion.
Feb. 3, 1978 – March 15, 2026
Freedom Dawn Grube passed away peacefully in her home on March 15, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Boyce.
Freedom is survived by her stepfather, Marven Boyce, of Joplin; her children, Cheyenne Choate, of Webb City, and Jacob Choate, of Galena, Kan.; her grandchildren, Jaxson and Harper, of Webb City; her life partner, Robbie Scheiterle; and her brothers, Daniel Choate and life partner Teresa Clark, of Joplin, Bryan Grube and wife Dianna Grube, Waterloo, Iowa, and Shawn Choate, of Waterloo; many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Freedom’s love for her family was endless, and her memory will continue to live on through the lives of those she loved most. A celebration of her life services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
Jan. 15, 1953 – March 12, 2026
Kurt J. Kelly, age 73, of Webb City, passed away on March 12, 2026, at his residence. He was born on Jan. 15, 1953. in St. Louis to Leroy and Doris Kelly.
Kurt served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. He was a proud American.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Ramona Kelly, of Webb City; his daughters, Elizabeth Charlton, of DeSoto, Jessie Chandler of Grant, Ala., Rebecca Remson, of Michigan City, Ind., and Stephanie Becquette, of Arnold; stepsons Doug Deadmond, of Webb City, and Monte Deadmond, of Alba; and a sister, Les Willis. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Daniel Kelly.
A time of military honors will be held at the south lawn of Simpson Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday, April 3. Interment will be held privately at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
Arrangements are under the care of Simpson Funeral Home.
Sept. 9, 1948 – March 10, 2026
Sharon Dawn Setser, a loving, smart, and creative soul, passed away on March 10, 2026, in Webb City. Born on Sept. 9, 1948, Sharon dedicated her 77 years to the community she loved, spending most of those years in Webb City. She was a pillar of support, wisdom, and love for her family and friends.
Sharon was a dedicated case supervisor for the Missouri Children’s Division, where she served diligently until her retirement in 2003. In her retirement, Sharon’s creativity found expression through scrapbooking and genealogy, hobbies that allowed her to combine her love for history, family, and art. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing bridge, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren, who she adored.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Setser, and her nephew, Gary Todd Setser. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Yakopec and her husband Joseph; her grandchildren, Jalen Ybarra, Sophia Sanchez and Riley Yakopec; her siblings Gary Setser and his wife Fay, and Christie Setser and her partner Norm Bodenstein; her niece Laci Douglass and her husband Joe; and her great-nephew Jeffrey.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 26, at Simpson Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of life at 11 a.m.
