14-4 Cardinals have three home games coming up

Webb City baseball hopes to build an extended winning streak as the Cardinals play at Carthage Thursday before a three-game home stand.

The 14-4 Cardinals have won eight of their last 10 games, outscoring opponents 97-37. Those two blemishes were against Liberty North (8-4) and Kickapoo (5-3).

At home Tuesday, scored 6 runs in the third inning and held on to win 6-2. Lake Johnson, Braden Strickland and Barret Weller all had two hits, accounting for six of the team’s eight hits. Mason Williams was credited with two RBIs on his one hit.

Mason Young, the winning pitcher, allowed two hits in five innings. Bryson Bard relieved him, giving up one hit.

After going to Carthage Thursday, Webb City will host two teams Saturday – Fort Osage at 11 a.m. and Smith-Cotton at 3 p.m. Willard will be here Tuesday.
