Cardinals keep their winning streak going

The Webb City Cardinals notched an important win at home Tuesday against Willard while extending their winning streak to six. They’ve won 10 of their last 11 games and have improved their record to 18-4.

After visiting 0-10 Parkview Thursday, Webb City will be at home again Friday against Pea Ridge, Ark., before going on the road again to Aurora on Saturday and Ozark on Tuesday.

The Cardinals won 5-3 Tuesday as they gave Willard’s Tigers their sixth loss. They took a 3-0 lead in the first and then broke a 3-3 tie with 2 runs in the sixth.

Mason Young was on the mound for all seven innings. He gave up three hits and struck out five.

Lake Johnson and Braden Strickland both had two hits for the Cardinals. Trevor Lofland’s lone hit was a double. Strickland had two RBIs.

On Thursday, the Cardinals got an 8-2 win at Carthage.

And on Saturday at home, they defeated Smith Cotton 5-4 and Fort Osage 9-4.
