Retiring principal Jeff Wilkie says each Webb City High School class is good, but the Class of 2026 is especially a “good bunch.”
It’s also the largest bunch ever, numbering 327 as of the School Board meeting on Tuesday.
The class includes 79 graduating cum laude (3.3 grade point average or higher). He notes that cum laude graduates have to commit as sophomores to “take the hardest classes we have to offer.”
It has the largest number of summa cum laude graduates – 27 achieving 4.0 GPA or higher.
Two summa cum laude graduates, Carter Slinker and Jansen Pearce, have been chosen as Missouri Scholars 100. And Slinker is a National Merit Finalist.
For the third year in a row, a Webb City student has been the outstanding welder in the Franklin Tech program.
And Lauren Shanks has received state farmer recognition with the Carthage Tech FFA program.
• 15 are being recognized for passing all of their end-of-course exams.
• 22 (maybe four more) are graduating under the Missouri School Flex or Missouri Option programs.
• 30 have earned Work Keys Honors of Distinction, meaning they are certified to enter the work force in various fields.
• 77 received Industry Recognized Credentials, and of those, 26 have attained multiple IRCs.
•13 Nest coffee shop operators, learning business and marketing techniques, have been awarded scholarships.
• 6 have earned the Seal of Biliteracy.
