Carol Maureen Capron, age 84, of Webb City, passed away surrounded by her family at 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at The Wildwood Senior Living in Joplin, following a lengthy battle with dementia.
Carol was born on March 29, 1942, in Joplin. She is the daughter of Howard and Helen (Hulvey) Price. She grew up in Galena, Kan., where she was crowned football homecoming queen in 1957 and later graduated with the class of 1960.
On Aug. 7, 1960, Carol married Virgil “Jack” Capron in Galena, and he precedes her in passing.
Carol is survived by two sons, Michael Jack Capron and wife Debbie, Leesport, Penn., Patrick Daniel Capron and wife Leslie, Webb City; nine grandchildren, Erica Durbin, Zachary (Allison) Martin, Chase Capron, Hannah (Kevin) Nally, Natalie (Seth) Harris, Tadd Capron, Quincie Capron, Elliett Capron, Holly Capron; one great-granddaughter Foster Harris; and one great-grandson Jack Capron.
She is preceded in death by her parents; infant twin daughters, Jennifer Ann and Penny Lorraine; daughter Ann L. Martin; grandson Seth Martin; and brother Pat Price.
Carol was always a supporting light for her husband Jack and their children. She followed Jack through his time at Stewart Air Force base in Smyrna, Tenn., and after his discharge they made their way back to Webb City, where she helped him open his veterinary practice, Madison Animal Clinic.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and watching them compete in their various sports and activities. Baking with her grandkids was one of the great joys of her life, along with gardening and traveling. She was the life of a party and always enjoyed visiting with friends. Carol was also very involved with Wildwood and was a shining light for all of the nursing staff.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Wildwood in the memory care unit for all of the care and love they provided to Carol and the family throughout their many years there.
Graveside services were held Friday, May 22, 2026, at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.

Mark Allen Rains, age 64, of Joplin, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, surrounded by family.
Memorial services for Mark will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Christ’s Church of Oronogo. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Canines for Veterans or to the Four States Amputee Network and may be entrusted to Ozark Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, where a complete obituary will be posted.
Sept. 5, 1935 – May 22, 2026
A loving wife, beautiful Mama, and precious Mamaw, Dixie Joan Ryan (Wolfe), age 90, of Carterville, passed into the Eternal Presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 22, 2026.
Dixie was born in Joplin on Sept. 5, 1935, to Juanita Wolfe, and spent her entire life in the Joplin area. She worked early in her life for American Fixture as the first female welder in Joplin. She married William D Ryan in Nov. of 1977. Dixie later worked in sales for Belk Simpson in Carthage. She was adored by everyone who knew her.
Dixie enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, and singing, and was known for her beautiful voice. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, children and grandchildren.
Dixie was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Wolfe; her sister, Sharon Winters; her only son, Doug Cramer, and her grandson, David Box III.
She is survived by her husband, William D. Ryan, of Carterville; daughters, Debora Palmer and husband Tim, Joplin, Cristy Snow and husband Bill, Brownsville, Texas, Carrie Box and husband David, Joplin, Lori McGraw and husband Steve, Torrington, Wyo., and Becky Begay and husband Wallace, Mesa, Ariz.; her sister, Lou Ann Bryant and husband Larry, Carl Junction; 27 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends and visitors on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. A graveside service will be held for the family at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Carterville Cemetery.
One of her youngest great-grandsons who knew her well said, “Mamaw’s crown in heaven is probably so heavy, she’s going to fall right back down to earth again.”
Feb. 24, 1948 – May 19, 2026
Muriel Elaine Woody, born on Feb. 24, 1948, in Fort Scott, Kan., led a life characterized by love, compassion, and empathy. Known for her warm spirit, bright smile and infectious laugh, Muriel was a beacon of faith and familial dedication. Her radiant heart touched the lives of everyone she met, leaving an impact that will continue to echo through the years. Muriel passed away peacefully with her children by her side on May 19, 2026, in Joplin.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Muriel found her greatest joy within the walls of her home and the hearts of her family. As a lifelong member of the church and the wife of a pastor, she found solace and purpose in her faith. She served as a Sunday school teacher, assisted with VBS, Celebrate Recovery and mission trips alongside her husband.
Muriel’s professional life was marked by a successful career in accounts payable at St. Johns Hospital in Joplin, from where she retired in 2012 after working there for over 30 years. Some of her hobbies included crocheting and gardening.
Muriel was preceded in death by her husband Ron Woody; father, Donald Shoemaker; and mother, Alma Shoemaker. She is survived by her sons, Shane (Jennifer) Woody and Jason Woody; grandchildren Alexandra, Jacob and Coleton (Roz) Woody; sisters Linda (David) Scharenberg and Becky (Scott) Simpson; numerous brothers and sisters; and nieces and nephews.
A visitation was held Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and her funeral was held Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Webb City. Services were under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Webb City or Life Choices.
