The Greentop Skating Rink was a great place to have fun for several generations through the 1940s and 50s.
Here’s how the Carl Junction Standard updated the building’s construction on Friday, Nov. 3, 1944:
NEW SKATING RINK WILL SOON BE READY FOR ROOF
The new skating rink building being erected on Joplin North Main Street Road, south of Stone’s Corner, by H. L. Knight, will soon be ready for the roof, as work on the sidewalls progresses.
The building, which is of concrete block construction, is 65 feet wide by185 feet long. B.L. Bartholow, of Carl Junction, is doing the concrete block work and is assisted by L. H. Dickinson and Gene Frakes, both of Carl Junction.
These skaters were featured on the program cover.
This was the Greentop’s ad in the King Jack yearbook.
Ken Spencer has donated this ticket and the program for a benefit performance at the Greentop.
