Property owners in Jasper County who disagree with the values of real estate and personal property established by the assessor for the 2026 tax year will have the chance to appeal their assessment when the Board of Equalization meets beginning July 8.
Appointments will be taken no later than Thursday, July 2. Call the clerk’s office at (417) 358-0416.
County Clerk Charlie Davis announces the board will meet at 9 a.m. each day as long as it takes to hear all appeals. The board will meet at the Jasper County Highway Department, 1100 E. Java, Carthage.
Property owners appearing before the board should be prepared to present evidence to establish what they believe to be the correct value of their property. If, after the decision of the board, the property owner is still dissatisfied with the assessment, the appeal may be heard by the State Tax Commission.
Highway 43 at the Spring River bridge will be completely closed beginning as soon as Monday, July 6, for the bridge to be rehabilitated.
Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes around the project to their destinations.
West Plains Bridge & Grading won the $3.2 million contract. It has until Dec. 1 to complete the project.
This is part of a larger project by the Missouri Department of Transportation that includes rehabilitation of the North Fork Spring River on MO 43 and the Duval Creek bridge on Route M.
Work on the North Fork Spring River bridge will be completed prior to the closing of the Spring River bridge.
