Webb City City Hall is expected to lose electricity at about 10 a.m. Friday as utility poles behind the building are replaced.
Therefore, City Hall will be closed at 10 a.m. and not reopen until power is restored. It is estimated that it will take five hours to replace the poles.
Some other electrical poles are being replaced in the city.
Charlie 22 Outdoors, a nonprofit organization supporting veterans, will hold its annual banquet Saturday at the College Heights Athletic Center.
The event raises money through ticket sales and proceeds from an auction of mostly donated items. There are also table sponsorships, drawings and a 50/50 pot.
The dinner is open to the public. Tickets are $15 per person. Children 10 and under will be admitted for free with each paid adult ticket.
Executive Director Scott Hettinger says all funds raised go directly toward preparing for our events. “We provide our events free of charge to those we serve and cover all expenses including travel, lodging, meals, tags, licenses, etc. The battle against veteran suicide takes the full effort of a family and community. We’d love for you to join us on this mission.”
Charlie 22 Outdoors is located at 115 N. Madison St. in Webb City.
Webb City’s Carolyn McGowan is hard at work with a large, varied cast while she’s directing “Annie the Musical” for Joplin Little Theatre.
Tickets are on sale now for the show, which will run Wednesday, Aug. 12 – Sunday, Aug. 16. Seats are $18 for adults or $15 for students and senior citizens.
