Burn bans
Webb City Police Chief Don Melton made this announcement earlier in the week.
Due to the extreme weather conditions we will not be issuing outdoor burning permits within the city limits until weather conditions change. Please use caution when discarding any hot items or materials during this time. Thank you for your cooperation.
Burn bans are also in effect in Joplin and Jasper County.
Vape store checks
The Webb City Police Department recently conducted an underage compliance check at nine local businesses that sell vape products. We are pleased to report that every business checked properly requested identification and none sold vape products to the underage (up to 18 in Missouri, 21 federal) participant.
We would like to thank our local business owners and employees for their diligence and commitment to following the law. Their efforts play an important role in helping keep vape products out of the hands of minors and protecting the health and safety of our youth.

Friday, May 19
22:20 – I was dispatched to 249 Highway in reference to a wrong-way driver. I made a traffic stop on a vehicle in reference to multiple lane violations. Missouri Highway Patrol took over the investigation, and the driver was arrested for DWI.
Friday, Aug. 21
19:26 – Officers were dispatched to 120 N. Liberty St. in reference to a domestic in progress. One adult male was taken into custody for outstanding warrants, and the report was sent to the local prosecutor for review.
Saturday, Aug. 22
16:42 – Officers were dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft in progress. One female was taken into custody for shoplifting and resisting.
Sunday, Aug. 23
02:34 – Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of S. Pennsylvania St. for a medical unknown.
08:31 – I was dispatched to the station in reference to a firearm found in a storage building in the 1400 block of Stadium Drive. The firearm was entered into evidence.
11:51 – An officer was dispatched to WCPD in reference to a past-tense report of a possible stalking, which originally occurred the previous day at Webb City High School.
13:31 – Officers were dispatched to Main and Tracy streets in reference to a suicidal subject. One male was taken to Freeman Hospital for a 96-hour evaluation.
13:41 – An officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a male who was trespassing. The 35-year-old male was taken into custody for burglary in the first degree.
14:47 – I arrived in the 1200 block of N. Range Line Road for a report of sexual misconduct. A 50-year-old woman was cited after exposing her genitals while defecating on the roadside.
15:09 – An officer was dispatched to the roundabout in reference to a two-vehicle, non-injury crash..
17:22 – I was dispatched to 2578 N. Range Line Road for a theft report.
Monday, Aug. 24
02:18 – An officer conducted a traffic stop at Third and Jefferson street for no tags. A 35-year-old male was arrested for DWI.
08:30 – I received a call for service at 1702 Boyer Place in reference to trespassing.
10:55 – I took a walk-in report at WCPD in reference to a past-tense incident in reference to stealing by fraud. The incident originated in the 100 block of Colonial Drive. A report was generated from that conversation.
11:20 – An officer took a walk-in at WCPD about a child-custody call in the 1700 block of Redwood Drive.
13:23 – I responded to the 600 block of N. Madison St. in reference to possession of marijuana by a minor. The item was seized and a report was forwarded to the Jasper County Juvenile Office.
13:27 – I was dispatched to WCPD for the arrest of a 46-year-old man on a Webb City warrant for peace disturbance.
14:48 – I received a call for service at 610 N. Liberty St. in reference to property damage to a motor vehicle.
15:32 – An officer on patrol near Casey’s, 337 S. Main St., was flagged down in regard to a shoplifting that had happened earlier in the day. Three citations were issued.
17:10 – I received a call for service at 1720 Boyer Place in reference to a federal warrant service. A male was subsequently arrested.
Tuesday, Aug. 25
02:38 – Officers responded to the 800 block of W. 13th St. regarding a medical call. A 28-year-old female was transported to Freeman West in Joplin to be held for a 96-hours.
07:34 – I received a call for service at 901 A Cardinal Lane in reference to a motor vehicle accident.
08:38 – An officer was dispatched to Countryside Drive and Wilson Crossing for an animal complaint. Two citations were issued.
10:21 – I was dispatched to the roundabout for a two-vehicle, non-injury crash.
10:41 – I responded to Webb City High School, 621 N. Madison St., in reference to a past-tense theft.
11:46 – I arrived at 1426 S. Jefferson St. for an abandoned vehicle. A 35-year-old resident discarded a fiberglass boat on the street and failed to remove it from the roadway. He was cited for abandoned vehicle/property.
12:12 – I was dispatched to White Oak Station, 411 S. Madison St., for a theft. The regional manager reported theft of cash by an employee.
14:03 – Officers were dispatched to Probation and Parole, 1919 N. Range Line Road, to take custody of a 43-year-old male on a full U.S. extradition warrant.
17:36 – Officers responded to 1802-2A S. Oronogo St. regarding a disturbance in progress. One of the involved parties was located and stopped at the intersection of Myrtle Street and Kennedy Lane. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driving status.
Wednesday, Aug. 26
02:49 – A report was taken for a possible property-damage incident that occurred at the intersection of Main Street and Finch Drive.
15:43 – Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Canyon Trails Drive to check well-being. As a result, a death investigation was conducted.
23:59 – An officer was waved down near the intersection of Zora and Hall streets. As a result, a 43-year-old female was arrested on a Webb City warrant.
Thursday, Aug. 27
08:32 – Officers were dispatched to 923 W. Fourth St. in reference to a trespass in progress. One female was taken into custody for trespassing, resisting, and failure to obey a lawful order.
10:41 – An adult female came to WCPD to report a theft of a tablet in January at 712 Wilson Street.
15:00 – An officer located a non-injury two-vehicle crash near Austin and Madison streets.
15:24 – An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Webb Street and Broadway for a traffic violation. The 68-year-old male was arrested for driving while revoked.
16:19 – An officer conducted a traffic stop on a black GMC at Main and Vine streets. A 23-year-old male was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.
17:19 – Officers were dispatched to MacArthur and Powell drives for a two-vehicle crash with injuries. A 32-year-old female was cited for failure to yield right of way.
Friday, Aug. 28
08:48 – A citizen came to WCPD to turn in a bike that was found at Walgreens. The bike was placed into evidence for a safe-keep.
13:27 – An officer observed a revoked driver operating a blue Chevy trailblazer. A stop was conducted at Daugherty and East streets, and the male was taken into custody for driving while revoked.
17:15 – Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of E. Daugherty St., where a 41-year-old male was committed on a 96-hour mental hold.
