Webb City softball defeated McDonald 14-4 in six innings Tuesday in the first home game of the season.
Avery Burns was unscathed on the mound through four innings, and the Cardinals held an 8-0 lead. The Mustangs scored 4 runs in the fifth, and Alivia Nieburg was called in from first base for relief.
The Cardinals went on to put the game away with six runs in the sixth inning.
Brecklyn Sargent had 3 hits, including a home run, and 5 RBIs. Abby Sargent had 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Chasney Brown also had 2 hits. Addy Burns got 3 RBIs on one hit.
The 5-2 Cardinals went 3-1 at the Republic tournament and got their second loss Monday (7-5) at Carl Junction.
They’ll be home again Thursday against Lebanon before the Joplin tournament Friday and Saturday and their road game Tuesday at Glendale.
