

Girlfriends who graduated together from Webb City High School in 1968 held a mini reunion Thursday at Flat Creek. Attending were: (SITTING) Joyce (Ray) Turner, Vicki Groff, Rebecca Perry, Marti (Robins) Pittman, Paula Palmer. (STANDING) Mary Ann (Powell) Crissman, Sissy (Freeze) Brown, Linda (Davis) Allison, Nancy (Storm) Johnson, Kathy (Johnson) Allen, and Julia (Dubry) Broaddus.
Soroptimist International of Joplin announces it has selected the Webb City Farmers Market’s WIC voucher program worthy of a sizeable donation.
At noon, Wednesday, a $2,500 check will be presented to the market to support approximately 250 families receive fresh fruits, vegetables and meats. Each week, WIC (Women, Infants and Children) participants can receive $10 in vouchers to spend with market vendors.
The WIC program aligns perfectly with our club’s goal of lifting significant obstacles and barriers away from women and children so that they can focus on achieving the education and training that they need for economic independence,” says Jennifer Reeves, a member of the programs of service committee. “Providing funds to the WIC program will lift one of the major obstacles by helping women put food on the table.”
Soroptimist International of Joplin is part of Soroptimist International of the Americas, a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.
