Webb City softball capped a busy week Tuesday with an 8-0 shutout at Glendale.
Alivia Nieburg had a no-hitter going into the seventh inning but settled for a one-hitter as she pitched the complete game.
Brecklyn Sargent hit her sixth home run of the season to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Abby Sargent went 5-for-5 at the plate to lead the team’s 14-hit attack.
The team defeated Lebanon at home Thursday 12-5 before entering the Joplin tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Cardinals won three tournament games: Neosho 9-6, Park Hill South 8-5, and Ozark 7-3. They tied Raymore-Peculiar 1-1, while their only loss was 6-4 against Owasso.
The 9-3-1 Cardinals will be home Thursday against Waynesville and then at Kickapoo on Tuesday. Nixa will be here Thursday, Sept. 17.
Next to the softball field Thursday will be a tennis match, as the Cardinals entertain Ozark.
After the tennis and softball competitions Thursday, fans will want to skip supper and head to the Cardinal Dome to catch the volleyball Cardinals take on Nixa.
Or, they could hop over to Cardinal Stadium to see the soccer team host Carl Junction. Both teams will be seeking their second win of the season.
The volleyball team is rebounding from tough competition at a triangular in Arkansas on Saturday, where they lost 3-0 to both Shiloh and Farmington.
In their own triangular on Thursday, they defeated both Mt. Vernon and Pittsburg 2-0.
After a match coming up at Ozark on Tuesday, the Cardinals will be home again Thursday, Sept. 17, against Lebanon.
