Police Reports

September 16, 2026

Police Chief Don Melton says he has instructed officers to hand out a lot of warnings instead of tickets for school-zone violations since the times been extended. He says the zones are in effect longer because students are still present in the zones long after school is out.

The directive is likely to end as soon as Melton thinks drivers have had enough time to adjust.
