Coach Jason Brown and the girls golf team have been busy, so we will have to recap the first two weeks.
The girls kicked off their season with a jamboree type event at Schifferdecker on Sept 1. Both JV and varsity were able to compete. Violet Haut finished in sixth place.
Varsity competed in the Missouri State University relays in Springfield on Sept. 8, and all girls finished with personal records. Haut finished fifth with an 81.
A mix of JV and varsity players competed at Neosho on Sept. 8. Marlee Jacks, Josie Tupper and Gracelynn Cook had personal records. Haut finished fourth.
Webb City junior varsity hosted a Scramble scheduled for Sept. 10 at Briarbrook. Weather did not cooperate. Coaches from Neosho, Carthage, Carl Junction and Nevada collaborated to come up with rotation stations that allowed for an overall points winner and award trophy’s for longest drives and closest to the pins. Brown says everyone made the best of it and had a wonderful afternoon of golf. Cook represented Webb City on the first-place team, and Tupper won a longest-drive award, with 194 yards. “Great job, ladies,” says Brown.
“This is a young team that is hungry to keep getting better and compete in Class 4 this year. We will keep you updated!”
