Old Atwoods building is being renovated for the Car Care Center

As you’ve likely noticed, construction is progressing at the old Atwoods building at 1899 S. Madison St., which will be the Car Care Center, a multi-use facility.

Kaleb Marti, of Multifamily Cartel, has filed a $1.5 million building permit with plans to completely renovate the interior of the building, which was built as the first Walmart in Webb City in the early 1980s. Anchoring the other end of Wal-Con Plaza was Consumers grocery. NAPA Auto Parts now operates in that section.

Multifamily Cartel now owns the entire shopping plaza.

A new two-story foyer will do a lot to do away with the early-day Walmart look of the building.

Plans call for sales offices, an event space with a balcony, a vehicle repair shop and a warehouse. There will be some office space on the second floor.

Sprouls Construction is the general contractor.
