The 2026 class of inductees into the Webb City Athletic Hall of Fame was honored during the annual banquet Saturday in the Cardinal Dome commons.

A common theme of the acceptance speeches was how the experiences they had by playing sports at Webb City High School have had a positive effect on the rest of their lives. They especially cited their coaches for the qualities they instilled in them and the camaraderie of playing with their teammates.

• Bob McAfee was captain of the basketball team that went to state in 1973. He was also the captain of the football team his junior and senior years.

He earned a football scholarship at Missouri State University and later a baseball scholarship at Missouri Southern State University. His 1978 baseball team finished second in the NAIA Nationals, and he is a member of the MSSU Hall of Fame.

• Chad Woodmansee, a 1999 graduate, holds team baseball season records for hitting eight home runs and 38 RBIs. He was an all-state pick in 1999.

He initially played after high school at Crowder College and finished at Missouri State University, where he played in the 2003 Mens College World Series.

• Tyler White, 2002, made his mark at WCHS in football, wrestling and powerlifting. In his senior year, he was all-state as a center in football and the co-MVP of the Show-Me Bowl. He was co-captain of the wrestling team for three years and made all-conference three years. He won a gold medal in powerlifting at the Show-Me State Games.

After high school, he played football at MSSU and was named an academic all-conference his senior year.

• Marty Rodgers, 2006, was an all-state running back for the Cardinals as a sophomore, junior and senior. And he was all-state in track for three years.

He went on to become a three-year starter in football at Southern Illinois University and helped lead his team to a No. 1 national ranking.

• The 2006 state championship baseball team finished the season with a 22-4 record, including the 6-5 defeat of Lee’s Summit West in the state final.

• The 2006 state championship football team had a perfect 14-0 undefeated season. At the Show-Me Bowl, Webb City defeated Hannibal 26-0.

In addition to honoring the athletes, the annual banquet is a fundraiser for the Webb City R-7 Schools Foundation.
