Ground was actually broken, with more than shovels, Saturday morning at the site of what will be Mid-Weston Autoworks on North East Street.

Mid-Weston Autoworks breaks ground for new building in Webb City

Parcel is the last to be sold by the city on East Street

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Saturday morning for Mid-Weston Autoworks at 705 N. East St.

The business will be operated by Regan and Brandt Weston, who have already been doing general auto repair and performance enhancements in Purcell since 2022. They say they hope to be open at their new location by July 2027.

Mike and Sharinda Younes are the developers. Simple Simon’s Pizza was their first project. Another one will likely be in their future, they say, once the Mid-Weston Autoworks building is open.

Development of the Mid-Weston site is a milestone for the city because it is the last piece of property on East Street that was owned by the city.

That means City Administrator Carl Francis is no longer involved in real estate sales.

He’s been involved in attracting Sleep Inn & Suites, Atwoods, Flat Creek restaurant, and Tee Time, among the others that have sprung up since the roundabout was built.

The Mid-Weston site is adjacent to the Foreverbed mattress factory.

Dirt work has also been started on another site that was previously purchased. It is between Simple Simon’s and Flat Creek. However, Francis is honoring the developer’s request not to be named yet.
