The championship game of the Trolley League was played on Sunday, Oct. 6, 1912, at Lakeside Park.

It put an end to a complicated season, during which the pennant was exchanged a couple of times.

The Carterville team had been offered the pennant by default because the Carthage team refusing to follow league orders to replay a game with Webb City.

Carterville declined the pennant by forfeiture, and the Webb City team claimed it as a result of having defeated the E-M-F team of Joplin and the Pittsburg (Kan.) Pirates, both of which had defeated the Carterville team.

It was decided a final game would decide the championship and as a result, Carterville overcame Webb City by a score of 6 to 2, winning the 1912 pennant.

The Trolley League was composed of teams from Joplin, Webb City, Carterville and Carthage. This league also played against other area teams with colorful names such as the Granby Miners, Oronogo (Blues, Reds and Browns), Carthage Stone Cutters, Joplin Studebakers, Spring City Spaders and the Sarcoxie Berry Pickers.
