Delbert ‘Perk’ Collins
Feb. 4, 1944 – Sept. 12, 2021
Delbert “Perk” Collins, age 77, of Webb City, passed away on Sunday at his home.
He was born Feb. 4, 1944, in Pomona, Mo. to the late Lawrence and Helen (Dollins) Collins. At the age of 15, the family moved to Diamond, where Perk went to work skidding and hauling logs with his dad and brother. At 18, he was hauling can milk for Carnation and Kraft.
On Jan. 14, 1965, Perk married Gladys Smith at his parents’ home east of Diamond. In 1967 they moved to Webb City, where he painted houses, and worked several years delivering papers for the Wise buyer, until retiring for health reasons. He loved God and his family with his whole heart. He was a member of the Webb City Nazarene Church, where he served as an usher and worked on building and grounds.
Perk is survived by his wife, Gladys, of 56 ½ years of marriage; three sons, Darryl Collins and wife Kristi, Webb City, Gerald Collins, Joplin, and Terry Collins and wife Beth, Springfield; four grandchildren, Kayla, Emily, Darryl II., and Aaron Collins; and a special baby, Abby. Perk was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Royse, Glen, Don, Ray, Randy and Kenny; and a sister, Shirley.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home, with Pastor Nathan Haeck officiating. The family will be present for visitation at noon. Burial will follow in Wild Rose Cemetery.
Billy Forker
Nov. 18, 1933 – Sept. 16, 2021
Billy Frank Forker age 87 of Carl Junction, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa to Clarence Forker and Marie (Waters) Forker on November 18, 1933. Billy worked in the construction field for many years until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sydney Forker on September 22, 2019. Billy is survived by his son, Tim Forker and wife Kim of Carl Junction; sisters, Pam Oberdick of Liberty, Missouri, Rebecca Abbott of Springfield, Missouri; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Billy’s wishes were to be cremated and his family will have a memorial service at Mount Hope Cemetery Open Air Pavilion on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM with full military honors. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
Teresa (Hart) Godek
Aug. 21, 1954 – Aug. 30, 2021
Teresa Lee (Hart) Godek, 67, passed away Monday, Aug. 30, 2021 in Joplin, after a five-year illness.
Teresa was born Aug. 21,1954, in Carthage to Bill and Jennie Hart, the second of two children. She was a lifetime area resident. She started her schooling at Perseverance in a one-room country schoolhouse, going to grades 1 and 2. After that school closed, she continued in Carterville for grades 3 through 8. The closing of that school sent her on to Webb City, where she graduated in the class of 1972. To her friends and family she was known for her sense of humor and contagious laugh.
In 2005, she was united in marriage to David Godek
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Hart in 1979, and Jennie in 2015. She is survived by her sister Vida (Hart) Martinez and her husband Frank of Joplin.
Debra Henderson
June 18, 1958 – Sept. 9, 2021
Debra Sue Henderson, age 63, of Joplin, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept, 9, at Mercy Hospital Joplin.
She was born in Carthage on June 18, 1958, to Richard Erskin and Carolyn (Rowe) Smith. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Webb City and graduated from Parkwood High School.
Debra married Carl Henderson on June 4, 1976, in Miami, Okla., and he survives her. She is also survived by her children, Ashley Harris and husband Jacob, Webb City, Jessika Clyde and husband, Joplin, Christopher Henderson, Joplin, and Austin Henderson, Joplin; her mother, Carolyn Smith, Carthage; her father and stepmother, Richard Erskin and wife Dorothy, Joplin; a sister, Sherry Smith and husband Jim, Carthage; a brother, Rick Erskin, Wichita, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Inez Rowe; her in-laws, Phil and Lois Henderson; and her stepfather, Bob Smith.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Webb City. Burial was in Park Cemetery, Carthage. Memorial contributions may be to the Ronald McDonald House. Services were under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home.
