In less than a week, the Webb City boys basketball team has defeated Joplin for the championship of the annual Joplin Kaminisky Classic and defeated the Eagles at home for their first conference win of the season.
In winning the tournament Saturday for the first time, the Cardinals came back from a 31-23 deficit to win 66-55. Nickhai Howard and Mekhi Garrard were selected for the all-tournament team.

Prior to the championship game, the Cardinals had defeated Clever and Nevada.

The Central Ozark Conference game in the Cardinal Dome was much tighter, with the Cardinals winding up on top 80-74.

The 9-1 Cardinals won’t return to Cardinal Dome until February 2. In the meantime, they play at Ozark Friday, January 15, the Frontenac Tournament the weekend of January 21-23, and at Camdenton Jan. 30.

They will play Thursday, January 14, at Ozark and then the week of January 18 in the Logan-Rogersville Lady Wildcat Classic.
The next action at Cardinal Dome will be a double dual wrestling meet at 5 p.m. Thursday, January 18, against Seneca and McDonald County.
