Jan. 6, 1954 – July 24, 2026
Allen C. DeVillers, age 72, of Webb City, passed away July 24, 2026, after a short illness.
Allen was born Jan. 6, 1954, in Joplin to Phillip H. and Joyce (Colson) DeVillers.
He graduated from Memorial High School in 1972 and worked several years at May’s Drug. In 1981, he moved to California and returned to the area after working as a supervisor at Arrowhead Industries.
He is survived by his sister, Karen Layman (Ken), Webb City; brother, Randy DeVillers, Carthage; nephews, Chris Miller (Stormy), Joplin, Dustin DeVillers, Tampa, Fla., and Phillip DeVillers (Caitlin), Webb City; two great-nephews; and three great-nieces.
His loyalty always remained to Missouri sports teams, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, often quoting stats about the players and memorable games.
Memorial contributions may be made to Solace House of the Ozarks. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.

Nancy Peck Lee, age 82, of Webb City, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, to be with her Lord and Savior.
Nancy grew up in an idyllic seaside town in New England, where she spent her summers swimming competitively in the harbor. Nancy attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing.
During basic training, Nancy met the love of her life, William Lee. They had a whirlwind romance and spent their first year as husband and wife stationed in Vietnam. After several years in the service and living overseas, the couple settled in Bartlesville, Okla. It was there that they built a beautiful life and raised their two children. After 42 years in nursing, Nancy retired. She and Bill spent many happy years enjoying the tranquility of Grand Lake, Okla. After Bill’s passing, Nancy moved to Webb City, to be closer to her daughter. They were fortunate enough to spend several years as next door neighbors.
When asked how she wanted to be remembered, Nancy said, “I’d like to be noted as someone who is a good friend, who helps when she can, and who represents Jesus.” Nancy did all this and more.
Nancy’s legacy lives on through her children, David Lee, of Naucalpan, Mexico, and Debra Oaks (James), of Webb City; and her three cherished grandchildren, Truman Oaks, Valeria Lee and Alex Lee.
Nancy’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was an active and dedicated member of Joplin First Church and found great joy and purpose in her work with The Gideons International, spreading the Word of God. She will be profoundly missed. A service to remember Nancy’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Joplin First Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park.
May 18, 1926 – July 22, 2026
Virgie Mae Mahurin, born on May 18, 1926, in Prosperity, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at Westgate at Wildwood Ranch.
Widowed, she was united in marriage on June 6, 1945, to Jimmie Lee Mahurin.

Nov. 13, 1937 – July 25, 2026
Iva Jean (Myers) Misner passed away from this life on July 25, 2026, at the age of 88 at St. Luke’s in Carthage. She was born on Nov. 13, 1937, to Lloyd and Doney Myers. She was a homemaker for most of her life, creating an environment of love and compassion for her family.
Iva had no more than finished the 11th grade when she fell in love with Melvin Misner. They were married for over 67 years. In their marriage, they had three children, Susan, Beverly and Mark. Over the years, she worked as a waitress and as a factory worker at Elder’s Shirt Factory. Her primary career, though, was being a dedicated mother to her children and wife to Mel.
Iva was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin “Mel” Misner; her parents; and her two brothers Richard Lee Myers and J.D. Franklin Myers.
She leaves behind her children, Susan (Steve) Gartin, of Webb City, Beverly Tappana, of Webb City, and Mark (Deborah) Misner, of Ft. Smith, Ark.; grandchildren Tara (Demetri) Mendoza, Ft. Smith, Lacey (Rusty) Robertson, Joplin, Meghan (Jake) Aldridge, Oronogo, Jorden (Baron) Ochoa, Hampstead, N.C., Mark Gregory (Ashley) Misner, Ft. Smith, Larry Tappana Jr., Carl Junction, and Shelly Foulk, Carl Junction; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Iva’s life will be honored with a funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Webb City, with Pastor Dustin Burdin officiating. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Carterville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home.
June 25, 1951 – July 22, 2026
Richard “Rick” Eugene Powell, passed away on July 22, 2026, at his home in Webb City, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Rick was born on June 25, 1951, in Webb City, where he would spend his life rooted in the community he helped shape with his hands, his work ethic and his steady presence.
He was a proud third-generation brick mason, whose career spanned 50 years, and his craftsmanship became part of the landscape of Webb City, Joplin, and the surrounding area. If a building in the region featured brick or rock, there is a good chance Rick had a hand in laying it. His work can be seen in many familiar places, including Del Rio, Webster Elementary School, KS Crossing Casino, and the Pittsburg Fire Station, among countless other projects that stand as a lasting tribute to his skill and dedication.
Rick took great pride in his trade and approached every job with care, precision, and a strong sense of responsibility. He understood that masonry was more than a profession. It was a family tradition, a calling, and a way to leave something lasting behind. His legacy is written into the brick and stone of the communities he served.
He could often be found in the garage working on cars, where his patience and mechanical know-how served him well. He also enjoyed picking a banjo, filling his home with music and the kind of easy comfort that comes from a life well lived.
He is survived by his children; Luke Powell (Julie), Scott Powell (Grace) and Dakota Powell; grandchildren, Skylar Powell, Gabe Powell, and Sloane Powell; siblings; Mary Ann Crissman and Mike Powell; and brother-in-law, Mike Grissom.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary Powell; sister, Nancy Grissom; and brother-in-law, Cris Crissman.
His life was built with the same care and strength that he brought to every wall he laid, every car project he completed, and every day he lived.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at Rick’s home.
