A conference all-star game was one of the few games played in 2020 on the new turf at the Webb City High School baseball field.

Baseball season is here

All-district, all-conference basketball teams include Webb City players

The Webb City baseball team is finally getting to compete on the school’s new diamond.

After a jamboree on Monday, the Cardinals will begin their season at 10 a.m. Saturday with a home game against Rogersville. They’ll be home again Monday afternoon against Republic before going on the road to Branson Tuesday and Hillcrest Thursday. The first four games are part of the annual LAEL Leadoff Classic.

Webb City’s ninth graders will start their season Tuesday here against Nevada.

The field’s new turf, backstop and dugouts were ready in time for the 2020 season, but there was no season because of COVID-19.

Jason Peake, of SOMO Sports, has an outlook of the Cardinals’ season.
