Basketball teams on conference winning streaks

Webb City boys and girls basketball teams are on streaks in Central Ozark Conference play, which continues Thursday and Friday at Republic.

The boys 15-5 were victorious on homecoming night, defeating Ozark 73-61. They had earlier in the week beaten Carthage and Branson.

After traveling to Republic Friday to take on the 12-9 Tigers, the boys squad will be back in the Cardinal Dome next week, against Joplin on Tuesday and Nixa on Friday.

Four Cardinals scored in double figures Tuesday as Webb City outscored the Tigers 30-13 in the fourth quarter for a decisive 83-69 win.

Barron Duda led all scorers, with 27. Holton Keith added 21, while Omari Jackson and Eli Pace scored 12 and 11, respectively.

Webb City girls are on a three-game streak, having defeated Carthage, Ozark and Willard.

Abby Sargeant, with 14, and Addie Burns, with 10, led the Cardinals’ offense.

Thursday night’s game at Republic is against the 15-4 Tigers.

The 9-12 girls will entertain Joplin Monday and Nixa Thursday.
