Bataan Memorial marchers raise over $50,000 for Honor Flight of the Ozarks

Bob Foos

Three local men recently made good on their promise to complete the Bataan Memorial Death March … and then donate contributions they collected to the Honor Flight of the Ozarks.

Friends Jonathan Dawson, David Pyle and Steve Taylor first completed the greuling 26.2-mile Bataan Memorial Death March (carrying a 35-pound rucksack) across the White Sands Missle Range in Las Cruces, N.M., in 2019.

They decided to do it again, but this time as a fundraiser for the Honor Flight of the Ozarks.

After completing the march on March 22, they presented a check in the amount of $52,559 to Honor Flight of the Ozarks officials on April 13 at the Webb City Elks Club.

Jonathan Dawson, David Pyle and Steve Taylor display memorabilia from their second Bataan Memorial Death March.
