William H. (Bill) Perry III was honored by the Webb City Farmers Market by designating him as the official bell ringer to open the market on Saturday, Aug. 3.

In a brief ceremony prior to the bell ringing, market board member Ron Lankford thanked the entire Perry family and the Cardinal Scale Foundation for their decades of supporting Webb City – and especially the farmers market.

Perry’s parents, Marion and W.H. Perry Jr., were among the market’s first supporters when it was established in 2000. Besides being regular shoppers, they helped fund a variety of market projects.

The largest and most important project they funded was pouring concrete over the pavilion’s gravel floor. Currently, they are funding installation of a handicap door for the restroom on the northeast corner of the market kitchen.

Among those attending the ceremony with Perry were his niece, Aston Perry Stovern and her husband Matt Stovern, president of Cardinal Scale Manufacturing, and their oldest daughter, Rylee Munch.
