Carterville Methodists to serve biscuits and gravy to raise funds

Carterville United Methodist Church members invite everyone to breakfast Saturday, June 15, to help preserve their historic building.

Biscuits and gravy with juice or coffee will be served for the price of an unspecified donation from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the church.

Donors unable to attend can mail their donation to Carterville United Methodist Church, 120 W. Main St., Carterville MO 64835.

 

 

JLT taking signups now for Summer Children’s Theatre Workshop

Registration for the Summer Children’s Theatre Workshop at Joplin Little Theatre is now open.

It will be held for two weeklong sessions, with two sessions per day to choose from: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 5 p.m.

This Book Needs a Hook, from July 8 – 12

A freshly printed book is ready to go out in the world. There’s only one problem: How will it find its audience? The new book decides the best thing would be to ask for advice. It asks different genres of books how they find their hook. We will find out if the new book has what it takes to become a classic.

Survivor JLT, from July 15 – 19

Can you “Out Sing,” “Out Dance” and “Out Act?”  Teams will compete to see who can become the sole Joplin Little Theatre Workshop Survivor. Artists challenges and physical challenges of skill combine in this once in a lifetime theatrical event.

The workshop is for those 5 to 14 years old and costs $75 per child per session.

Children are learning their lines for JLT’s ‘Once Upon a Crime’

Performed by children, “Once Upon a Crime,” is the next Joplin Little Theatre production.

Will justice be served in this hilarious fairy-tale courtroom play packed with characters we all know and love? Goldilocks is the defendant, on trial for breaking and entering. The plaintiffs are – you guessed it – the three bears. Is Goldilocks guilty or innocent? With multiple endings to cover each possible outcome, the audience gets to decide her fate.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
