The Webb City boys basketball season came to an end Tuesday as the Cardinals were defeated 79-59 by Willard in the first round of the Class 5 District 6 tournament at Willard.
Except for a brief time in the first quarter, the host Tigers led the entire game.
Trae Turner led the third-seeded Cardinals with 20 points, while Carson Anderson, Jackson Adams and Hudson Matthiesen added 9 apiece.
Turner was also the team’s season points leader, with 290, and Matthiesen scored 249. They are graduating, along with Slade Hurd, Holden Johnson and Grayson Smith.
The Cardinals’ season ended with a 15-12 record.
Willard, seeded sixth, advances to play second seeded Carl Junction Thursday in the semifinals. Carl Junction’s Bulldogs defeated Marshfield 89-58 in the first round.
