Practically the entire public works staff had one job Thursday as concrete was pumped at the Broadway bridge.

Broadway bridge – solid as a rock now

To follow up on last week’s story about preparation for the big concrete pour to strengthen the bridge on Broadway – it looked like $20,000 worth of concrete.

The bridge is now secure for many years to come, but the project does little to alleviate flooding downstream along the Golf and Rudondo subdivisions.

City Administrator Carl Francis hopes the solution for that will be construction of a detention pond upstream the other side of MacArthur Drive. That project is in the engineering stage.
