Candidate filing period has begun, ends in just 2-plus weeks (Dec. 28)

Webb City mayor and school board incumbents among the first to be on the April ballot

The candidate filing period for the April municipal election began Tuesday.

It’s a shortened filing period this year, which will end Tuesday, Dec. 28.

Among those signing up early are Webb City Mayor Lynn Ragsdale and Webb City R-7 School Board candidates Stephen Crane and Dan McGrew.

Carterville City Council races are expected to draw multiple candidates this year.

Neck City Mayor Don Hole says he will seek re-election to his seat. And because of perennial low turnout, voters will be asked to take advantage of a law that allows for no election if the number of candidates equals the number of openings.

Here’s a form with the terms that are expiring and the candidates, if any, that have filed for them. We’ll be updating it through the filing period and election.
