The Lady Cardinals had another great day on the course Monday as they finished third as a team.
They were competing against 13 other teams and were just 12 strokes back from second-place Carthage. Glendale finished first.
Violet Haut, at 85, beat her personal record by a point for the second meet in a row. Brooklyn Cartwright tied her PR at 94; Clare Zahm shot 97; Irelynn Miles, 99, and Cassie Collins 114.
“This crew is rolling right now,” says coach Jason Brown, “as we were the top Class 3 finisher.
Thursday, Sept. 18, was another “fantastic” day for the team at the Ozark Invitational.
Haut’s 86 put her at 11th place, just out of medal contention. Clare Zahm shot a 93, and Brooklyn Cartwright came in at 94. Cassie Collins shot 5 off her PR at 111. The team score was 384, 24 behind second-place Glendale.
Brown says he pulled Irelynn Miles before she finished because he could tell she was in pain and didn’t want to risk injury. “We will need her for districts.”
“I am so proud of these girls and the hard work they’ve put in to get to this point where we can go to a tournament with some Class 3 and 4 state contenders and truly start to compete with them,” says Brown.
