Webb City golfers are off to a fast start after winning their first tournament of the year.
The Cardinals beat out 19 other teams to finish first as a team in the 31st annual Joplin High School Invitational at Twin Hills.
Cooper Forth and Levi Lassiter, both seniors, led the team by placing in the top 10 to become medalists.
Webb City’s baseball Cardinals got a 6-0 shut-out win Tuesday at Branson, bringing their record to 11-3.
Luke Beverlin allowed the Pirates five hits during his 5 1/3 innings on the mound. Closer Payton Marshall allowed 1 hit.
Webb City’s lineup tallied 11 hits, including Drew Vonder Haar’s double in the sixth inning. He had 2 RBIs, as did Mason Williams, with 3 hits. Vonder Haar and Shadrach Salazar both had two hits.
Webb City defeated Neosho 7-6 in eight innings at home Thursday and lost 5-4 at Glendale on Saturday.
The Cardinals’ road trip continues at Republic Thursday, Hillcrest Friday and Fort Scott Monday. They’ll be home Tuesday against Carthage and next Thursday against Nixa.
